Public consultation on the Draft Local Plan for Greater Cambridge now OPEN
Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council are working together to create the first joint Local Plan for Greater Cambridge. Their draft Local Plan shows where new homes and workplaces could be built over the next 20 years - and how essential community facilities and public services would support this expected growth. Once adopted, the joint Local Plan would become the statutory development plan for the Greater Cambridge area.
While there are no plans for significant development of rural South Cambridgeshire,
parishioners are still invited to view the draft Local Plan and comment on development intentions.
Deadline for comments on the draft Local Plan:
5pm on Friday 30 January 2026

Visit the consultation hub to find out more.

Local Government Reorganisation
The Cambridgeshire County Council meeting of October 21, 2025 voted for replacing the current two-tier County/District system with two single unitary authorities responsible for all local services. If
approved at national level, from April 2028 Great and Little Chishill will come under the new 'South' entity that will comprise East Cambridgeshire, South Cambridgeshire, and Cambridge City. A Government decision is expected in July 2026.
