Cllr Bob Hatt
I came to this village 45 years ago just as Jean was about to have James our son, Ruth arrived a couple of years later. At that time I was working as an Architect in London but the nightmare of the journey into London each day persuaded me to find a job locally.
I worked in Private Practice in Letchworth and in Royston before joining the Civil Service in Cambridge. With the rethinking of the” Thatcher years” the Civil Service decided to shed its own Architects in favour of outsourcing.
I became one of the founding Partners of the Baldock Architects practice of CHQ Partnership, which became one of the largest in the country, where I remained until I retired.
During my time in Chishill I have been involved with the construction of the Village Hall, the Village Wine circle, Bowls Club and the Men’s outings group generally known as the “Youth” Club.
I was previously on the Parish Council some years ago.
My current passions are watercolour painting in small format and abstract painting in large format. The post mill and exposing the hidden spiral stair in St. Swithun’s Church are high on my agenda.
I am particularly interested in design and planning matters and how the Village will evolve in the coming years.
